LEADING UK PRODUCER ATTACHED TO JIGSAW FEATURE

Jigsaw Productions are proud to announce that one of the UK's leading feature film producers Julia Valentine (Moon, This is England, Wild Target) is now officially attached to our next feature film, Ties that Bind. This film has been in development with Jigsaw for the past 3 years with writer Stephen Thompson and Director Dale Corlett collaborating closely on the development of the script. Julia's production company Cacti Films and Jigsaw Productions are now in a formal co production agreement and are currently taking the film to the market and funders for finance. Director Dale Corlett is very excited about this development with the project.

Dirty Feet Dance Video 2011

Director Dale Corlett worked with Scottish based Dance Company Waterbaby Dance to create a short film with a group of disabled dancers from Paisley called Dirty Feet.

Working with Scottish choreographer Gail Sneddon Dale developed a shooting script and then filmed, directed and edited the final production. Jigsaw Productions Suzanne Adamson production managed and designed the project. Original Music was created by Nigel Dunn and Steven Wright of Moonglass Music. This project was funded through Awards for All Scotland and Renfrewshire Council and produced by Waterbaby Dance, Linda Payne and Nigel Dunn in association with Jigsaw Productions. This event was part of the GMAC 1st Thursday programme, a free monthly event at Trongate 103 in Glasgow. Director hosts live link conversation at international film festival

Director Dale Corlett hosted a live internet linked discussion between Spain, Brazil and the UK today as part of the Festival Internacioal Pequeno Cineasta in Brazil. This discussion focused on the challenges faced by young emerging filmmakers in making films in their respective countries while allowing the film makers to share their experiences. Following this event it was agreed that Dale will attend next years festival in Brazil as a guest to continue to develop an international cultural exchange between Scotland, Brazil and Spain.

Jigsaw Productions have received a profile article in the hugely popular leither magazine this week. The article which focused on the Director Dale Corlett and his recent film Running in Traffic (which is now available to buy from HMV and LoveFilm.com) is now available across the East Coast of Scotland. With a print run and readership of over 10,000 this article which also profiled his up coming feature films The Boy called George and The Ties that Bind will help raise the awareness of Jigsaw Productions past and present work in Scotland and around the world.

Q&A with the Director of Running in Traffic

GMAC hosted an evening this week as part of the TRONGATE 103 1st THURSDAY Programme celebrating the DVD launch of this independent Scottish feature. Unfortunately DOP George Geddes was unable to attend at the last minute as his shoot on a commercial that day ran over, so it was left to Director Dale Corlett to hold the fort, talking to the large audience about how he and George went about creating the look and feel of this award winning film. Hosted by independent film producer Shian Holt, the evening involved a screening of a small selection of scenes from the film and a discussion around the overall cinematography and style. With such a large turnout for this free event, GMAC are hopeful this will translate into more DVD sales for a film the organization has helped support from its inception. Thanks to all who attended. JIGSAW @ EIFF - TWENTY TEN

Jigsaw Productions have had a very productive Edinburgh International Film Festival this year. Along with Director Dale Corlett chairing and hosting a number of events the production company has further developed two of its feature film projects through a series of meetings with one of them fast becoming one of the films to watch for in 2011.

Following the festival Jigsaw will continue to develop their slate with confirmation of pre production and shooting dates for their next feature soon to be announced.

DIRECTOR IN NZ

Following a very successful trip to Los Angeles Director Dale Corlett is now visiting New Zealand for a series of meetings regarding his project, Anarchy in Aotearoa.

This film has been a labour of love for Dale over a number of years having originally developed the idea for the film while he was training at Te Kura Toi Whakaari / The NZ Drama School.

Inspired by real life events in the early 1980s, this film will see Dale returning to his native NZ to shoot it once the final preparations and finance are in place.

LENNIE JAMES ATTACHED TO JIGSAW PRODUCTIONS FILM

Jigsaw Productions are proud to announce that British Actor Lennie James (Sahara, Fallout, Snatch, 24 Hour Party People) is officially attached to their up coming film, The Ties that Bind, written by London novelist Stephen Thompson.

London-born Lennie, who has been based in Los Angeles for the past 3 years has recently finished shooting the new Paul Haggis film, The Next Three Days, starring Russell Crowe and Liam Nesson, which is due for release later this year and is currently filming the second season of the critically acclaimed HBO comedy series Hung.

Director Dale Corlett says:

“I am very excited that Lennie is on board with this project… we needed an actor that could bring a huge amount of honesty and compassion to this role. He needed to balance the vulnerability of a man who has lost his son with the anger that engulfs and dominates him throughout the movie. All this coupled with the fact that this film is very much ‘one man’s journey’… with him on screen for something like 85 of the 90 odd pages. So we knew we needed someone who could (literally) carry the entire film – Lennie has these skills in abundance – having seen his work over many years coupled with his personal commitment to the subject matter we are tackling, we knew that Lennie was the only guy for us…. that’s why I traveled out to LA to make sure we got him..

Jigsaw is now busy finalizing the financial package for this feature with further casting currently taking place in the UK. Shoot dates are due to be confirmed over the coming months.

Director Dale Corlett is busy with a series of meetings in LA over the next few weeks.

These are focusing on two features he has in development with Jigsaw Productions which he is hopeful of green-lighting over the coming months - watch this space !

Following this he will be in NZ and Australia meeting with local based production companies setting up his next international co-production.

A ROAD TRIP AROUND THE WORLD

Jigsaw Productions Director Dale Corlett will be on a road trip around the world in March & April this year. March he will be out in LA (the land of the La La's) for meetings about his next feature film, The Ties that Bind.

He will also be meeting with the UK Film Council US Office to arrange a series of meetings with agents and financiers for some of his other up coming projects. Following this he will then be heading across to his native NZ and then across to Australia for a series of meetings regarding two films that are in development with Jigsaw and local based production companies. Following his whirlwind road trip Dale will return to the UK (with a fairly hefty amount of air mile points I dare say) to complete work on Jigsaw's latest short film, Shadow, written and directed by Suzanne Adamson.

FINAL PREP FOR SHORT

Jigsaw Productions are the final stages of pre-production for our latest short film, Shadow. Not to be confused with our feature film of the same name, this short is a co-production with Nosmada Films and will be the directorial debut of Jigsaw's Suzanne Adamson, who wrote it as well. Final casting is currently taking place while locations are being locked and crew are confirmed. Principal photography is due to begin in February with a delivery deadline of April this year. Following that it will be submitted to a range of festivals around the world to showcase the new talent involved in it. Watch this space for UK screenings.

This work has been undertaken as part of the packaging of the film for financiers which has been taking place over the past few months. The film, which has already begun to cause a stir in the industry on both sides of the world due to its confrontational style and innovative story structure will be directed by Jigsaw's Dale Corlett.

Director Dale Corlett was singled out as one of the new generation of auteurs at this year's Mannhein - Heildberg International Film Festival, where his debut feature film Running Traffic was in the official competiton in November. He was a guest of the festival where he met a number of other international directors and some future collaborators. His highlight was seeing some amazing films including some brilliant South Amercian films like Eduardo Pinto's, Cano Dorado, the disturbing and innovative Swiss film, Coeur Animal, by director Severine Cornamusaz and the equally beautiful Norwegian film Jernanger, not to mention the emotional Finish film Letter's to Father Jacob.

A Boy Called George

The first draft of Jigsaw Productions feature film project, A Boy Called George (formally Cry boy Cry), written by Suzanne Adamson has now been completed and is being presented to potential funders, producers and fellow collaborators. Suzanne has been busy undertaking further research over the past few weeks focusing on the new romantics music scene specifically in Glasgow and Scotland. She has also set up a dedicated blog for the film to help her research and the overall development of the film. Later she will set up a facebook account for the film, to help keep people up to date with the films progress. Over the coming weeks Jigsaw Productions will undertake more formal development on this first draft, with Executive Producer Dale Corlett working closely with writer Suzanne Adamson on its development, prior to formal funding being secured.

TIES THAT BIND

Jigsaw Productions are happy to announce one of their latest feature film projects, The Ties that Bind, written by English Novelist, Stephen Thompson, is reaching the final stages of the initial development period. This development process has involved director Dale Corlett and Stephen working closely together developing the various aspects of the final story.

A new script is due in the coming weeks with it then being forwarded to a number of industry producers and financiers who have already shown a lot of interest in the project.

As it's a low (ish) budget feature Jigsaw are expecting to fast track this project, with a plan to put it into production early next year. Watch this space !

Edinburgh International Film Festival '09

Jigsaw Productions have had a very productive and entertaining EIFF this year. With a few too many parties, a couple of red carpet events and a lot of meetings this years festival has proved to be a very productive one indeed. Developments have been made with our Australian / Scottish co production project, Shadow, with writer / actor Leighton Young flying in from Melbourne to meet with prospective investors and development executives. His visit also allowed him and director Dale Corlett some valuable face to face time working on the script and some of the developments they have been working through via sykpe for the past few months. Meetings with potential co producers also took place helping them to move this project into the next stage of development. Watch this space for updates.

Cannes '09

Following a very busy and productive Cannes film festival earlier this year, writer/ director Dale Corlett has been busy working on the re write of the second draft of his feature film Anarchy. He is happy to say that this has now been completed. The script is now being read by established film industry producers who have already shown a lot of interest in the project and following that, further development will take place before it is formally submitted for financing in Australia and New Zealand later this year.

Following a very successful EIFF (Edinburgh International Film Festival) where our debut feature film, Running in Traffic produced by those lovely Dabhand Films guys and directed by Jigsaw's Dale Corlett, had it's red carpet world premiere, work continues on securing more festivals to screen it while the Dabhand team are busy securing the best options for distribution. At Jigsaw we've been very busy working on our slate of films with a variety of writers including Australian based Leighton Young, Scotland based novelist Stephen Thompson and Jigsaw Productions producer and actress, Suzanne Adamson, on her debut feature film, Cry boy Cry.
